Director of Huizenga School's IIFE was Keynote Speaker for Franchise Expo 2009

Cheryl R. Babcock, CFE, Director of the Huizenga School's International Institute for Franchise Education (IIFE), was the Keynote Speaker at the 17th Annual Philippine International Franchise Conference & Expo on July 1 and a Business Roundtable discussion leader on July 2. Her keynote address, entitled Thriving and Growing Amidst Global Challenges, addressed issues relevant to Philippine franchises and their quest to grow internationally, particularly into the U.S. As one of the event dignitaries, Babcock helped cut the ribbon to open the Expo and participated in a parade, complete with marching band and confetti, through the exhibit hall.

On June 29 and 30, Cheryl R. Babcock, CFE, Director of the Huizenga School's International Institute for Franchise Education (IIFE), delivered a leadership course and a course on creativity and innovation for 43 members of the Philippine Franchise Association. This course is one in a four-part series of the Mini Master in Franchise Management™ delivered annually in Manila.

The International Institute for Franchise Education Graduates Five Candidates from its Franchise Mini MBA™ Series

IIFE Mini MBA Grads

Cheryl R. Babcock, CFE, Director of the International Institute for Franchise Education (IIFE) in the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, proudly awards the Certificate of Completion of the Franchise Mini MBA™ series to five participants who were inducted into the Franchise Mini MBA™ Club. Included in the group is IIFE Associate Director, Janet Goldstein, as well as senior leaders from franchise systems in the U.S. and Brazil.

The Franchise Mini MBA™ is a series of three, three-day learning programs designed to help franchise leaders develop and enhance their capacity to take on 21st century franchise challenges. Through interactive exercises, participants learn new problem-solving methods to position their systems for growth in the marketplace. Topics include innovation and creativity, strategic leadership concepts, how to conduct a strategic assessment, how to recruit franchisees in today’s economy, international franchising, and an overview of current legal hot topics.

IIFE Hosts Verne Harnish

On April 24 the International Institute for Franchise Education (IIFE) in the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship hosted Verne Harnish “Growth Guy” as the keynote speaker to 20 CEO’s from franchise systems throughout the United States at their third annual Executive Leadership Summit.

Harnish is the author of Mastering the Rockefeller Habits: What You Must Do to Increase the Value of Your Fast-Growth Firm. Verne is presently founder and CEO of Gazelles, Inc., which serves as an outsourced corporate university for mid-size firms and hosts a faculty of well-known business experts. As the “Growth Guy” syndicated columnist, Verne provides practical and actionable tools growth companies can use in creating focus, alignment, better communication, and an industry dominating strategy.

Harnish kept the group of CEO’s engaged with his One-Page Strategic Plan and his Five Crucial Techniques for Doubling Revenue. Mary Rogers, CEO of Abrakadoodle, said, “Verne Harnish was energetic and inspirational!”

IIFE Hosts 3rd Annual ELS

Who says being a CEO is all work and no play? Dr. Barry Barnes looks on as participants at the International Institute for Franchise Education’s third annual Executive Leadership Summit engage in a building block activity designed to “unblock” their create juices.

Don’t Just Survive…Thrive! was the theme for this year’s summit which took place on April 23 and 24 in the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. The focus was on challenges and opportunities specific to C-Suite executives of franchise systems and included topics such as jumpstarting creativity and innovation, the effect of the economy on franchise systems, and how to increase value in a growth business. In addition, the results of the annual Franchise Executive Leadership Monitor, a survey and analysis of current challenges faced by franchise executives, were released.
