Franchise Executive Leadership Monitor Report
Those in attendance at the IIFE Executive Leadership Development Summit learned the results of the first annual Franchise Executive Leadership Monitor, an exclusive survey and analysis of current challenges faced by franchise executives developed by FRANdata and the International Institute for Franchise Education.
In a survey of senior franchise executives conducted in early 2009 by FRANdata, respondents were asked to list their top concerns as managers. About a third ranked financing, the economy and growth as their primary concern. This was followed by 25% who mentioned leads and marketing as major challenges.
The top two concerns distinguish themselves by the fact that leads and marketing are comprised of issues that are significantly determined by internal factors because they speak to the brand’s core. On the other hand, financing, growth and the general economy are outside factors. While they do play into how a brand tackles leads and marketing challenges, a franchisor’s financial strength and business model will increase its chances to weather a financial crises more so than its brand perception among both consumers and prospective franchisees.
Other topics included in this report are: Growth through Recessions; Prospective Franchisees; The Ability and Willingness to Invest; Will Banks Lend?; and examples of Franchise Risk Metrics.
