Degree Application

Getting ready to finish your program? Make sure to take the necessary steps to ensure you are on the right track!

This process involves a review of your academic record to verify degree completion. Once approved, your degree will be conferred and a diploma will be generated. You should apply during your final semester in the program.

Undergraduate Graduation Checklist

Requirements for Graduation

• Earn a total of 120 credits (no duplication of classes)
  
  
• Complete all degree requirements for major of study
  
  
• Earn a minimum overall NSU GPA of 2.0
  
  
• Earn a minimum 2.25 GPA in all major courses taken at NSU
  
  
• Earn a minimum 2.25 GPA in all minor courses taken at NSU (if applicable)
  
  
• Transfer credits can not exceed 90 credits
  
  
• 50% of major and minor courses must be completed at NSU
  

Preparing for Degree Conferral and Commencement

• Fill out the online graduation application and pay $75 diploma fee
  
  
• Review information located on the commencement website:
  www.nova.edu/cwis/registrar/commencement.html
  
  
• Return RSVP for commencement located in commencement package
  

Things to Consider During Your Academic Career

While completing your course work at NSU please keep the following points in mind:

• Notify your Academic Advisor when you are repeating a class for a better grade
  
  
• To graduate with honors a minimum of 54 credits must be earned at NSU and a student must have a GPA of 3.8 or higher
  
  
• When declaring a second major or a minor, declaration must be made prior to the completion of 90 credits (please see your advisor regarding declaring a second major or a minor for additional policy information)

Please schedule regular appointments with your Academic Advisor to ensure that you are on track for graduation. You may schedule appointments with your Academic Advisor by contacting the Office of Academic Advising at 954-262-5067, located in the Carl DeSantis Building Suite 1115.

• If you are pursuing a Certificate, make sure your advisor has this noted in your record. Certificate courses must be completed prior to capstone. Students can return after graduation to complete a certificate as a non-degree student, however, courses cannot be taken concurrently with capstone.
